Chapter 3045 — The Passionate Sun Family

The Blossom Guardian

"One year—that should be no problem at all. And the place where your Flaming Mountain is located must be the Hakunamata Desert, right?" Wei Zhao had already looked into the location of Flaming Mountain.

"That's right, right beside the Hakunamata Desert!" Fiery Cloud said. "Leader, you know of that place?"

"Mm. In a little while I may have business to attend to in the Hakunamata Desert. When the time comes, I can drop by and see you on the way," Wei Zhao said.

"Excellent, that would be wonderful!" Fiery Cloud said in delighted surprise. "On behalf of Shui Zhen, I thank you, Leader!"

"You were a great help with today's affairs as well, so there's no need for thanks. I'll contact you when the time comes," Wei Zhao said. "There. Your injuries are fully healed."

"Eh? Already healed?" Fiery Cloud had not expected that, while he and Wei Zhao were chatting and laughing, his injuries had already healed. What kind of astonishing recovery method was this? Wei Zhao seemed to have restored him with perfect ease.

Of course, although Fiery Cloud saw how effortlessly Wei Zhao appeared to do it, he did not take it lightly. Wei Zhao made it look easy, but for anyone else, it would likely take a lifetime of exhaustion and still fail to heal another's wounds.

"Fully healed," Wei Zhao said. "If you wish to stay here, then stay a few more days. If not, you can head back today."

"Very well. I'm in no hurry. I'll return with you, Leader, and leave after a few days," Fiery Cloud said. He did not ask what business Wei Zhao had in the Hakunamata Desert—after all, it might involve Wei Zhao's private affairs.

After finishing Fiery Cloud's treatment, Wei Zhao began healing the Wind-Thunder Purple Lightning Beast. Once that was done, he busied himself healing the Sun family—Old Master Sun, Sun Jingyan's uncle, and the others all needed his care.

He worked straight through until evening, by which time all of them had recovered completely. And the Sun family, upon learning that Wei Zhao had saved them, were naturally endlessly grateful.

"Mr. Lin, I truly thank you for this!" Old Master Sun had a banquet laid out and looked at Wei Zhao with a smile. "If you had not arrived in time, our Sun family would have been in dire straits this time. Not only might Jingyi have been killed, but Jingyi's second uncle and I might well have died for lack of anyone to treat us!"

"You are too kind, Old Master Sun. It was the least I could do." Wei Zhao smiled. "Originally, I intended to wait for an auspicious day to come speak with you about a matter, Old Master Sun, but since I have made it here today, I may as well speak plainly."

"It's about you and Jingyi, isn't it? Of course there's no problem! I fully approve!" Old Master Sun said directly. "Jingyi told me after she came back. With her following you, I am at ease!"

Sun Jingyan blushed crimson, though she was delighted inside. In truth, when she had returned earlier and spoken of Wei Zhao, Old Master Sun had still harbored some misgivings. After all, Wei Zhao already had several girlfriends, and if Sun Jingyan threw herself into the mix as well, Old Master Sun feared she would end up at a disadvantage.

But now it seemed Wei Zhao was quite dependable—at least, when the Sun family ran into trouble, he was able to rush over at the first moment.

"Then I thank you for your blessing, Old Master Sun!" Wei Zhao smiled and said gratefully.

The banquet was a warm and harmonious affair. Wu Chengtian and Fiery Cloud also tagged along for the meal. Old Master Sun, however, was somewhat awkward around Wu Chengtian—after all, Wu Chengtian had once been Sun Jingyan's suitor, and Old Master Sun had at one point tacitly permitted him to court her.

But Wu Chengtian had nothing to feel awkward about. He had lived at Wei Zhao's home for so long, and Sun Jingyan had stayed there for several days as well; the relationship between them had long since changed. Wu Chengtian now regarded Sun Jingyan only as a sister-in-law and entertained no further ideas.

Only when Old Master Sun saw Wu Chengtian and Sun Jingyan talking and laughing easily, without the slightest awkwardness, did he breathe a sigh of relief. It seemed Wei Zhao's charisma was no small thing—Wu Chengtian had not only given up on Sun Jingyan, but was even willing to serve as his underling!

Of course, that was not the real shock. Only when Old Master Sun learned of Fiery Cloud's identity as a member of an ancient sect was he thoroughly stunned!

Wei Zhao… actually had an underling from the ancient echelon? That was simply formidable beyond words.

Yet when Old Master Sun learned that Wei Zhao had not just one underling from the ancient echelon, but also the local tyrant of the Loess High Sect, it suddenly struck him that the distance between himself and Wei Zhao was growing wider and wider.

The gap in their levels was no longer a matter of a little here and a little there. As for the level of the hidden families, Wei Zhao probably no longer even regarded it as worth his attention…

Little One fled at a mad dash with Little Eleven and Tagan Long, not even bothering to fetch their car. They ran dozens of kilometers before renting a vehicle and speeding off in the direction of the Xuandan Sect!

The car rental people were not suspicious; they simply assumed Little Eleven was undergoing acupuncture treatment somewhere, and Tagan Long was a patient as well, so they asked no further questions and drove Little One and the others swiftly onward.

In the car, Little One several times could not resist the urge to call Patriarch Xuanchen and recount the day's ordeal, but on reflection he decided against it. These matters were better told in person.

At last, after the torment of the journey, Little One arrived at the Xuandan Sect together with Little Eleven and Tagan Long.

For the final stretch, the rented car could not accompany them, so Little One had no choice but to go on foot.

Along the way, Little Eleven remained silent the entire time. Though she had escaped with her life, perhaps because she had suffered too many shocks, and because her body was truly drained, she had not spoken a single word to Little One.

Watching Little Eleven's wretched state, Little One began secretly making plans of his own! Previously, he had pursued Little Eleven partly because she was Patriarch Xuanchen's daughter, and partly because her strength was no trifling matter—she was a Heaven-rank expert.

But now Little Eleven was likely ruined. Her body would probably be riddled with holes, making her a complete invalid. What use was a woman like that to marry? At that moment, Little One was thinking about how he might distance himself from Little Eleven in the future.

It had to be said that Patriarch Xuanchen's disciples were every one of them full of crooked thoughts—when the beam is crooked, the rafters are crooked too. That was only to be expected.

"Bang, bang, bang!" A hurried knocking at the door interrupted Patriarch Xuanchen's cultivation. Actually, it scarcely counted as cultivation. At Patriarch Xuanchen's level, he seldom cultivated anymore; what he did was mostly contemplate the Heavenly Dao. Though such contemplation was in truth elusive and few had ever succeeded, before Cloud Rank Isle opened, it was the only widely known method of ascending to the Heavenly Dao—self-contemplation!

Of course, whether anyone had ever succeeded in ascending to the Heavenly Dao through contemplation was anyone's guess.
