Chapter 2592 — Little Shu's Name

The Blossom Guardian

Wei Zhao had no idea what Right Coiled Tiger was thinking. Filling his phone account with a million yuan out of the blue, just to get the data one more time—was the man out of his mind?

After drinking the medicinal broth Wei Zhao had brewed, Wang Xinyan sank into a drowsy sleep. Wei Zhao held her in his arms and began to cultivate. At his current rate, reaching the great perfection of the second layer of the Xuanyuan Dragon-Taming Art was only a matter of time. He looked forward eagerly to the third opening of the stone door in the cave—what treasures might lie within this time? And what unforeseen benefits would the third layer of the Xuanyuan Dragon-Taming Art bring him?

The second layer had already profited him enormously. Compared with the first, it not only sped up the healing of wounds and the rate at which he could boost others' strength, but—most important of all—it let him cultivate universal martial techniques. That universal technique had become the trump card he relied on to win every battle, even handier than the true-qi bomb.

The true-qi bomb was far too dangerous—a move that cost the user eight hundred to kill a thousand of the enemy. Unless there was no other way, Wei Zhao would not use it. Combined techniques were another matter. True, unleashing the seventh form of the Mad Flame Eight-Trigram Palm drained most of his physical strength and true qi, but even that was better than being wounded.

As for breaking through the peak of the middle Earth rank to reach the late Earth rank, he had yet to find the opportunity. Something always seemed to be missing—perhaps because he had advanced too rapidly of late, and had finally hit a bottleneck.

In truth, Wei Zhao genuinely wanted a life-or-death fight. Often a breakthrough could only be found in battle; most of his advances had come that way, and very few had happened naturally.

But battles, too, could not be sought at will. Take an early Heaven-rank expert like Military Advisor Zhuge, for instance. If Wei Zhao had not finished him with a single strike but had instead fought him slowly, blow for blow, then in the end the loser would surely have been Wei Zhao himself!

Wei Zhao had only the seventh form of the Mad Flame Eight-Trigram Palm to rely on when fighting above his level. If Military Advisor Zhuge had blocked it or dodged the blow, it would have been a nightmare for Wei Zhao! And if Wei Zhao did not unleash that seventh form, he was certainly no match for Military Advisor Zhuge.

So Wei Zhao had no choice but to kill Military Advisor Zhuge quickly rather than go looking for a chance to advance. Seeking a breakthrough there would have been nothing but asking to be tortured.

The night passed without incident. Early the next morning, Wei Zhao received a call from Brother Dafeng with the good news. He was not much surprised—all of it was within his expectations. He merely instructed Brother Dafeng to cultivate good relations with the people at headquarters as much as possible. If he could learn the location of the poison-refining base, so much the better; if not, then climbing quickly through headquarters and taking charge of more affairs would also let him brush against some of the base's secrets.

After that call, Wei Zhao thought he could go to school in peace. To his surprise, he found Chief Zhu at the gate of the villa!

"Mr. Lin…" Chief Zhu approached cautiously and spoke with respect.

"Chief Zhu? What brings you here? Shouldn't you be at Chen Xi's side, guarding her? What are you doing all the way out here?" Wei Zhao asked, puzzled.

"Ahem… well, it's like this. Young Master Bing sent for me a while back to handle a small matter, and on the way I stopped in to see my younger brother…" Here Chief Zhu hesitated, then looked at Wei Zhao. "Mr. Lin, about that matter you mentioned before…"

"Before?" Wei Zhao was slightly taken aback.

"The matter of treating my brother…" Chief Zhu tensed. Surely Wei Zhao wasn't going to deny it now?

"Oh, that!" Wei Zhao's face cleared. "If you have something to say, just say it. Why talk in riddles? You mean Zhu the Second's injuries—I can treat him at any time. But there is one problem: once I heal him, how will you explain it to the Hidden Zhao Family?"

"That…" Chief Zhu's expression changed at once. Yes—if Zhu the Second's injuries suddenly healed, what was he supposed to say? Zhu the Second's wounds were no lighter than Elder Bi's. As far as anyone had heard, the only ones in this world who could cure such injuries were Wei Zhao and the Great Return Pill, a third-grade pill of the Mysterious Pill Sect. But with the Hidden Zhao Family's resources, obtaining a Great Return Pill was impossible—let alone for a mere Chief Zhu!

If Zhu the Second's injuries were suddenly to vanish, it would be strange indeed if the Hidden Zhao Family did not grow suspicious! And when they came asking questions, Chief Zhu truly would not know how to answer.

"So the treatment is possible, but you must think of a flawless excuse. If you say I healed him, your identity will be exposed," Wei Zhao said.

"Alas, I was too impatient. I never considered that angle…" Chief Zhu gave a bitter smile. "Then I'd better take my brother back for now, and wait until we've found a suitable excuse."

"Hmm… you've already brought Zhu the Second here?" Wei Zhao was mildly startled.

"Yes, he's in the car outside the gate," Chief Zhu said.

"I see…" Hearing that Zhu the Second had already arrived, Wei Zhao found it awkward to send him away again. He was still weighing the dilemma when Shen Yushu spoke up.

"Arrow-Brand Bro, that's easy—Little Shu has a great idea!" Shen Yushu had overheard the whole conversation between Wei Zhao and Chief Zhu. She did not know why Chief Zhu had turned traitor, but so long as he now counted as one of Wei Zhao's subordinates, Little Shu ought to lend him a hand.

"Oh? Miss Chen, what's your idea? If it truly works, you'll be the savior of both Zhu brothers!" Chief Zhu's heart stirred, and he turned to Shen Yushu at once, asking eagerly.

"Miss? How ugly! You must call me the Universe's Top-Grade Invincible Adorable Genius Prophecy-Keeping All-Purpose Detective Spy Shu-007!" Shen Yushu declared.

"Very well, then… Universe's Top-Grade Invincible Adorable Genius Prophecy-Keeping All-Purpose Detective Spy Shu-007, what is your brilliant idea…" Chief Zhu repeated the long string of words, black lines of exasperation running down his face. Thank heavens his memory was good, or he would surely have forgotten it!

Holy crap! After repeating it all, Chief Zhu wiped the cold sweat from his forehead.

"Heh heh heh heh… First, have Arrow-Brand Bro heal your brother's injuries, but when you go back, don't breathe a word—keep pretending he's still wounded!" Shen Yushu said.

"That part's easy enough. As long as he doesn't circulate his inner-energy method, no one can tell how strong he is… But this can only be hidden for a while, not for a lifetime, can it?" Chief Zhu asked, somewhat puzzled.

"Who said anything about hiding it that long? Just a little while is enough!" Shen Yushu said. "You only need to do this and that… heh heh heh heh heh…"
