Chapter 832 — Once I Show My Power, You're Done

The Blossom Guardian

Zhen Yingjun had been playing billiards for years, but he had never seen anything like this. This wasn't billiards at all—it was practically a bouncy ball. No matter how hard a player struck a billiard ball, you could never get an effect like that out of it, could you?

Gu Mengyao, too, looked in surprise at the unruly ball on the table, then raised her head to look at Shen Yushu. Seeing that Shen Yushu was also strangely excited, Gu Mengyao understood at once that this was not something Xiao Shu had done herself. After so many years as sisters, they could tell each other's thoughts from a single expression. She could not see through Xiao Shu completely, but those trivial surface thoughts, at least, Gu Mengyao could still read.

Then she turned to look at Wei Zhao and saw the wry smile on his face. She paused for a moment, and a thought stirred in her mind. Could it be Wei Zhao who had pulled some trick? Xiao Shu had played for a long time just now without producing anything like this "superball." How could it appear the moment Wei Zhao arrived?

At that thought, a thoughtful expression came over Gu Mengyao's face.

Gu Mengyao's guess was right—it was indeed Wei Zhao's doing. Wei Zhao himself was not at all sure how to help Gu Mengyao and Shen Yushu win. He was only experimenting.

The first thing Wei Zhao thought of was that strange "true qi" of his, the energy Old Man Jiao had spoken of. Since this energy was all-powerful, could it be transferred into a billiard ball? According to the law of conservation of energy, energy can neither be created out of nothing nor vanish without a trace. It can only be transformed from one form into another, or transferred from one object to another, and in the process of transformation or transfer, the total amount of energy remains constant.

In other words, it was entirely possible for the energy in Wei Zhao's body to become the kinetic energy needed to make a billiard ball move. Of course, the energy in Wei Zhao's body had not appeared from nowhere, and the true qi of any expert master was not born out of thin air either.

Their true qi came from the spiritual energy of heaven and earth in nature, and the mental formulas and secret incantations they cultivated were merely a method for converting that spiritual energy into their own true qi. What they accomplished was a process of transforming the energy of the natural world into the energy of the body.

Wei Zhao's energy, on the other hand, came entirely from the jade pendant space. It was there that he had converted the energy inside it into energy of his own.

So after Shen Yushu set the ball in motion, Wei Zhao decided to test whether his energy could really be put to use by the ball. He braced both hands on the edge of the billiard table and activated the Xuanyuan Dragon-Commanding Art. In an instant, as if it had been injected with chicken blood, the billiard ball suddenly grew incomparably powerful and exploded with the force of an erupting little universe...

It really worked! However, because this was Wei Zhao's first attempt, he had not controlled how much energy he sent out. In a single flash, too much of it passed through. How much energy could a tiny billiard ball consume as it moved? The slightest bit would have been enough. Wei Zhao sent far too much, so naturally the ball kept moving without end.

Still, although this experiment had been something of a failure, it confirmed that Wei Zhao's method was feasible. What was even more gratifying was that his energy acted only on objects that were already consuming energy. The other billiard balls lying still on the table, and the table itself, did not absorb any.

As for the balls that had afterward been knocked into motion by that "superball," they had not absorbed any energy either, because Wei Zhao had stopped running his mental formula early on. The energy had thus acted on that one ball alone.

"Whoa, I'm freaking awesome! I can even make a shot like that—I really am a genius!" After her initial astonishment, Shen Yushu marveled. "I really am Genius Shu. No matter what I play, I'm just this good!"

"Impossible! How can this be? It defies all logic. Is there something wrong with the ball?" Zhen Yingjun could not believe Shen Yushu could produce such an effect. Even a professional billiards player could not turn a ball into a superball like that. It was utterly inconceivable.

"Just because you've never seen it doesn't mean it's impossible!" Shen Yushu said, looking at Zhen Yingjun with contempt. "I told you, beating you is easy as pie. Last round I was going easy on you. This round, the moment I show my power, you're done! If you don't accept it, then hit a shot like that yourself and show everyone!"

This astonishing shot of Shen Yushu's had drawn over most of the players in the billiard room. They had never seen such a fierce ball in their lives. It had been bouncing back and forth across the table for more than a minute and still showed no sign of stopping.

Everyone was exclaiming in wonder, but at the same time they found it almost unbelievable. Whoever could make a ball move like that was definitely the best of the best among billiards players.

Zhen Yingjun's face turned livid with rage, but he truly had no way to argue, because he really could not make a shot like that. He curled his lip and said irritably, "That was just dumb luck. Play another one and let me see."

"Why should I play another one? That kind of shot pocketed all those balls of yours—wasn't I doing you a favor?" Shen Yushu herself was not sure she could make such a shot again. She looked full of confidence, but in reality she was bluffing. She was also wondering in her heart whether Brother Shield was helping her, so she was not about to make a bold promise. "If I make another one, that counts as my win, and you concede. That's more like it!"

"This..." Although Zhen Yingjun did not believe Shen Yushu could make another shot like that, he did not dare to say anything too absolute. What if she somehow did? Wouldn't he have no choice but to admit defeat?

Seeing the crowd gathering, Zou Ruoguang also wanted to go over and see what was going on. But the moment he got a look, he shrank back. Good heavens—could billiards really be played like this? He had been running this entertainment center for many years and was something of a billiards expert himself, yet he had never seen such a ball in his life.

This was not billiards at all—it was a miracle. Only when the great god Lin was present could such a thing happen! He and his father had long since come to live in Wei Zhao's shadow, convinced that Wei Zhao could do anything, so when this happened, Zou Ruoguang actually found it perfectly normal.

Shen Yushu's ball finally came to a stop, but by then it had pocketed nearly half of the balls on the table. Among them were both some of Zhen Yingjun's balls and some of Shen Yushu's balls, though on the whole, Shen Yushu's outnumbered his by one or two.
